Award Value:
$500 to $1,000 per academic career. Awards will be based upon need, aspirations, number of applicants, and available funds. The words “academic career” refers to any courses of study or training past high school. A single award will be made per academic year. The deadline for scholarship applications is March 1st to be used for the following fall semester.
Eligibility
- While all students seeking college credit may be eligible, preference may be given to the non-traditional student.
- The scholarship will provide funds to defray the costs of tuition for college credit courses leading to the attainment of a degree or certificate.
- The recipient must be associated with an area yacht club or have a reference from an area yacht club member.
- A minimum high school or college grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale is required.
Application Process
- The following materials will be needed by the Scholarship Committee of The Highland Yacht Club
- Mail your materials listed in a. and b. above to The Highland Yacht Club.
- Have your high school and college(s) mail official transcripts (c. above) to The Highland Yacht Club.
- Have your referrers mail their letters (d. above) to The Highland Yacht Club.
- The Fallen Sailor’s Scholarship Committee will review all applications, and decisions regarding your application will be made and returned no later than April 1st.
Expectations and Considerations
- All funding will be paid to the school for which you have registered
- The Fallen Sailors’ Scholarship Committee will keep all materials and grades in confidence in accordance with Federal and State laws and school policies
